THE OCEAN.

FROM MARKETING
TO THE OPEN SEA

Remoteness Studio was born from a simple conviction: the most powerful stories are the ones lived first. Founded by Niccolò Banfi, who left a career in marketing at 35 to document life on the world's most remote islands, the studio operates where few production crews can reach.

We sail to the edges of the map. We embed with communities bearing witness to a changing world. We bring back stories that matter, told with the craft and patience they deserve.

Explorer · Filmmaker · Photographer

Explorer, documentary filmmaker, and photographer based in Milan. After 15 years in marketing, Niccolò pivoted to full-time exploration in 2022, dedicating his life to documenting the world's most isolated communities and ecosystems.

His expeditions have covered over 13,200 nautical miles across the Pacific, Atlantic, and Antarctic oceans. From Easter Island to Tristan da Cunha, from the Cook Islands to South Georgia, he gives voice to places and people most of us will never see.

Ambassador for the 1Ocean Foundation, Niccolò combines visual storytelling with ocean conservation advocacy. His forthcoming book, "Remoteness: Eyes to the Edge," collects over 100 photographs from his ocean crossings.

PRINCIPLES

01
Go There

We don't simulate remoteness. We sail to it. Every project starts with being physically present in the places we document.

02
No Greenwashing

We work with brands and institutions who share our values. If the story isn't authentic, we don't tell it.

03
Small Crew, Big Reach

We stay lean by design. A small, skilled team moves faster, adapts better, and connects more deeply with the communities we document.

04
Ocean First

The ocean is not a backdrop. It's the subject. Everything we produce serves the broader mission of ocean awareness and conservation.
